lolx.. finally the whole thing is over ...
but unbearable..

below is what happen in the camp:

This conference talks about “Services”. How we can improve the services in Singapore to make it a more attractive country and to provide better services. And recommendations from participants to make the service sector more interesting.

2 Days 1 Night Camp at Home Team NS
I was called last minute for the camp to replace someone who can’t make it, so when I reached the campsite, the participants they were playing some ice- breaking games. I got into the group I belong to which is Healthcare, and they make me feel comfortable and welcomed. They were all from different schools; some were from Junior College, Poly and some from ITE.

I joined in during the section product line, the PRODUCT line. Well, in this section, I have learnt how to create a product with the limited sources we have but that’s not an important point, the important point is that I have learnt to decide on how we want our product to be; like the impression we want our customer to see when they see our product, how to advertise our product; like Eg, get some artistes to promote our product, and why we use the way of advertising our products; Eg Artistes due to they are famous, and where we got the idea from.
It’s definitely an interesting section. I enjoy it very much.



The one that I enjoyed most is the Night Challenge. We have a list of clues with us and we have to find the place and meet the objectives. We completed the whole challenge and came in second. Wow, it’s really a tough one but challenging. We will not complete the whole challenge within the time limit if our group members do not cooperate well.

There were talks during the camp, namely:

2. GEMS talk
3. Mystery Shopper by Mr Money Ngoh Mystery Shopping Pte Ltd
4. Debating talk by Mr Vishal HarnalDebate Association (Singapore)
5. Resource talk by Ms Cynthia Pang from KK women’s and Children’s Hospital,Ms Elna Ng, Ms Yasmine, and Ms Joyce Tan from Alexandra Hospital

Attachments
Supposing everyone in my group are to attach to Alexandra Hospital but they only want 9 people to be involve and I was not chosen for the AH attachment. So other members who are not involved in Attachment including me, went to Mystery shopping and TMIS, Tourism Management Institute of Singapore.

In mystery shopping by Mr Money Ngoh, I learnt what are the qualities to be a mystery shopper, how to be a mystery shopper and what to check on when doing shopping.
To be a mystery shopper, first we must have a good memory so that when we enter a shop we knows what to check on, good in acting so that people will not have the chance to suspect you are a mystery shopper, responsibility, not to be bias so that a fair judgment can be made. One incident of my group during the mystery shopping exercise were not planned properly, 2 of them went into a clinic and when the nurse came to approached, they pointed at each other and said he /she is sick. So the most important point is to plan what to ask and what scenarios you wan to create and be prepared before entering a shop.

In the Tourism School talk by Mr H P Loi, the chief executive officer, I get to know the top 12 visitors to Singapore, and total of visitors who came to Singapore in the year 2005 and the seven components needed for the Tourism industry:
1. Accommodation
2. Attractions and Recreations
3. Transportation
4. Tourism services
5. Food and beverage
6. Retail
7. Travel trade
And I have learnt what the Art of service means and what involves in services.
Art means the conscious use of skill and creative imagination to create good service.
Service means the contribution to the welfare of others.
Good service will lead to more customers. And it involves not only a friendly smile and a warm welcome to customers, it involves also a series of soft touch points too:
Informational, Emotional, Communication, Deliverable and Measurable.

However, even though we did not go for the Alexandra Hospital, we tried to applied it to the Healthcare sectors too, we went to Pharmacy, hospitals, clinics and even the private clinics to do our mystery shopping. I went to a pharmacy name P & L pharmacy in town area, the service provider brings a smile when I went in but she was not very sure about the medicine i am looking for and the layout of the shop is not very good as the pathways to walk from a section to another is too narrow.

We meet up on days to do our recommendations. It’s really difficult to discuss in such a big group, as everybody is shooting out their ideas and thoughts at the same time. So we divide ourselves into small groups of different places to discuss on and each group to come up with 3 recommendations. By this, I learnt how to control when there is many members in a group having a discussion. And after the compilation, we found out that some of our ideas are actually overlapping each other.

Not only discussing about the recommendations, we also met up to discuss the booth proposal, the booth banner making and taking video of the services we want acted by us to be showed during our reflection speech.

During the finale, for the impression of the visitors, the girls wear the nurse hat and the guy having a cross at the sleeves. GREAT! We are all so united. Some of us are stationed at the booth and some were to help promote our booth to give out brochures to the visitors. And our booth was visited by lots of people.

Through the booth arrangement of things/furniture, I got to show my creativity in placing the objects which actually helps me one step towards my interior designer dream.

And after all the hard work we putted in, we got the
MOST POPULAR WORLDVIEW SERVICE BOOTH AWARD.
